Band Biography
Formerly known as The Tom Lubelczyk Quartet, AmericanMusicRevolution.com is the performance outlet for the compositions of bassist/composer Tom Lubelczyk. The international lineup is rounded out by native Bostonian Todd Brunel on clarinet and bass clarinet, Danish-born guitarist Casper Gyldensoe, and Japanese percussionist Toshio Tanaka. The wide range in ethnic background combined with their unique music experiences offer the ensemble a large palette to paint from. Their music can be described as impressionistic, since the songs favor mood and impressions of other musical genres.

“Forming of this group has been a process that took about two years. The composing of this music has been a deep exploration of self, six plus years of composing, exploring my creative vision. Trying to make sense of my past experiences and how they have shaped my present and future. I feel I have been searching for not only a sound but an attitude toward the music, trying to find myself as a composer and yet maintain who I am as a musician. All of these factors have recently become clear. As a composer, I have realized that I am a creator of contexts for others to exist within. Each piece is an exploration of a setting, each setting was inspired by an aspect of my musical experience combined with something that came from my personal discovery. I feel that to try to conform to a specific style outlined by a specific tradition has only restricted my creativity. Instead I have allowed myself to follow the on path the music has taken me. This has enabled me to discover contexts that go beyond typical jazz tunes. The true wonder for me is to see what happens to the tune in the group context. These players are more than I could ever ask for. Their experience and imagination bring the tunes to a place beyond what I had imagined.” -Tom Lubelczyk
