Band Biography :
Anne Haigis was born in a small town in the South of Germany, near the idyllic
Lake Constance. She made her first musical steps at an early age with the flute,
but soon abandoned it in favor of the guitar. Needing more breathing air than
what was available in her small town, she left school and her native Rottweil
and moved to Stuttgart at the age of 16. In 1974 she started playing at American
clubs, entertaining the guests to current chart toppers. Her talent was soon
recognized, and her unique and powerful voice got her an invitation to play with
‘RE,’ a Tuebinger Rock & Jazz band. From then on, English was her lingua franca.
Her first commercial success took place in 1981, when her critically acclaimed
album ‘For here where the life is’ was produced. Over the years, she slowly
adopted new musical styles, departing from jazz and even venturing into
German-language pop music. In 1989, she received the Lion award, the
German-language musical ‘Oscar|’ presented by Radio Luxembourg. She is currently
working on her new album, exploring new musical directions and enjoying her
artistic freedom.
