Band Biography :
“Here 4 Days” brings together an eclectic mix of musical talent whose roots
include traditional jazz, blues, country, alternative, heavy-metal, and punk
rock. The 5 members of the band have joined together from across the United
States to create a unique sound that is best described as post-grunge
alternative combined with the essence of an ’80’s hair-band (without all the
hair of course). Hard hitting vocals seamlessly blended with with flying guitar
solos are what defines this band’s unique sound. John Boring - Vocals John was
raised in Needles, California and is the son of the High School Band and Choir
Director there. He co-founded “The Boiling Chickens” in high school then later
attended Eastern Arizona College where he spawned a couple of one time
performance bands together for talent contests. After graduating from Northern
Arizona University with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering he went about six
months without a job while living off of comic books he sold on Ebay. He finally
started his engineering career in October 2005 where he met Chris and co-founded
what would eventually become “Here 4 Days”. Chris “Kit” Mayrhofen -
Guitars/Vocals Kit grew up in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and started playing guitar
at 15. When he was 17 he joined up with “Three Foot Gadget”, who would
eventually become “Three”. “Three” was the house band for a pool hall in
Carlsbad for about 6 months. They also played parties and other local venues.
After the breakup of “Three”, Kit took a 4 year break from music, while he was
in the Army. When he finished his term of service in the Army he took a new job
where he met John and founded “Here 4 days”. Kevin Beeson - Guitars/Vocals Kevin
is the old man of the group. He grew up in the Tri-State area of Colorado /
Nebraska / Kansas. The first group he was in was a group called the Jimmy Leebo
Band. In 1982, he decided to do a whirlwind, twenty year tour with the army. In
the army, he played with many exceptional musicians and honed his guitar
playing. His taste in music is vast, but he centers around classic rock like
Sabbath, Skynyrd, Zepplin, UFO, Deep Purple, Rainbow, etc. He likes to stay in
line with the influences of Michael Schenker, Gary Moore, Tony Iommi, Mark
Knopfler, Ritchie Blackmore, and many others (too numerous to list here).
Basically, he just loves to jam. Let’s plug in and go… Waylon Anderson - Bass
Guitar Waylon grew up in the sunny suburbs of San Diego County before joining
the Army in 1999. He came from a very musical family, but he had no interest in
music himself until he started high school. At age 16, his high school
girlfriend sat down with him and taught him a few Nirvana songs on guitar. After
that, he became infatuated with music and he played his guitar religiously
everyday after school. He started his first band (The Punks) while stationed in
Korea in 2000. The Punks eventually entered the All ARMY Battle of the Bands and
finished in a close second. After the break up of the Punks in October of 2000,
Waylon was sent to Fort Hood Texas where he lost interest in music for a time.
For the next 4 years Waylon barely picked up his guitar, only strumming it on
ocassion. It wasn’t until he met current bandmate “Kit” in the Summer of 2005
that his love for music was revitalised. He switched over to Bass and joined
Here-4-Days in the Fall, and has been making great music ever since. Adam
Overturf - Drums/Percussion Adam grew up in Benton, Illinois and began playing
piano at the age of 5. By age 7 Adam made the switch to playing drums. During
high school, Adam, along with 7 other members independently formed the ‘Rend
Lake Jazz Combo’ who played at local venues and events. After high school, Adam
joined the military and took a 6 year hiatus from playing drums and began
studying guitar. He hooked up with local blues band “Tony and the Torpedoes” in
Tucson, AZ and on occasion sat in on rhythm guitar. Shortly after moving to
Sierra Vista, AZ in 2004, Adam returned to drumming and joined up with “The
Miller Creek Band”. A talented, but short-lived classic rock band. After the
Miller Creek breakup, Adam answered a flyer and auditioned for the newly formed
“Here 4 Days”. Purely by coincidence, Adam and John work right next door to each
other for the same company… small world.
