Band Biography :
J Edwards came back into the music scene in 1997 after a move to Columbia, SC
and a few years off working on personal affairs. By involving himself in the
local Blues/R&B jams, he soon had opportunities to work with many local legends
and was asked to front for some good bands in the area. He also met Casey Grant,
a young Blues player that had a lot in common with J, from backgrounds to styles
and passions. Casey didn’t actually come into the band until 2005, but the two
set in together at many gigs and actually perfected a few songs at those live
jam sessions: “Lonesome Road” and “I got a Woman”. J Edwards started his band
playing acoustic guitar, rhythm electric, keys, harmonica and lead vocals. For 6
years the band stayed local, all the while J wrote and his music progressed into
more of a modern rock style, leaving behind the sounds and cover songs of the
area. In 2004 J Edwards’ Band went through big changes that left one survivng
member…… J Edwards! Casey Grant was called on in a minute to fufill the gigs
that were on the books and a handfull of drummers temporarily filled in the spot
while J went to bass for the time being. In a short time, after listening to new
originals Casey and J saw a lot of modern rock/pop songs coming together and
realized they were closer to the same goals and ideas thatn they had been in the
“all blues” area. In June of 2005 Charles Soles came to hear the band at a small
bar that catered to the USC college crowd and said “This is the band I want to
play with!”. A great pocket drummer with a huge kit, Charles fell right in with
the raucous, party boys, J Edwards and Casey Grant. J Edwards Band is playing
somewhere in SC every night of the week with new funky, pop rock songs that have
easy hooks for the crowd to sing along. The monstrous vocals from all three
members give thier modern rock songs a haunting choir-like sound. With thier new
album(coming in Nov. 2005) look for thier tour “So….. you wanna make out or
what?” from Atlanta to Memphis to Little Rock on the club circuit in 2006!
