Massacabre (Bass, keys/synth, vocals.)
Band Biography :
The one man project Massacabre originally didn’t actually start out as just
that. It was instead called Frostspell. Frostspell recorded two complete tracks,
and almost released a small demo, but the tapes were mysteriously lost and could
never be found again. Instead of rerecording the tracks, Frost (before he was
known as Aureole MDLXIV) took a small break before forming another project
called Power Monger, this time with the help of a few musicians. This too,
however, due to constant conflict and lack of resources, ultimately failed.
After simply rejecting the notion he could start a real project and get an album
out, he waited a year before he got back into making music. Now at 18, with a
new alias, Aureole insists that he will stop at absolutely nothing to get an
album produced, no matter how small the number of tracks or poor the quality
overall. Having been in such bands as Frostspell and, to a lesser extent Power
Monger, Aureole MDLXIV (formerly known as Frost) decided that, after both bands
folded, he would start a project in which he would mix ambient electronic music
with the dark elements of black metal, much in the fashion of when Burzum did
keyword work. Naming this band “Massacabre” (a combination of the words
“massacre” and “macabre”, obviously), he started work upon a major album called
Sin Nanna, as well as a demo CD and a promotional CD called “In The Sign Of The
Ancients”. The character of Aureole is of a dark figure who, through music,
tells stories of events in days gone by. Such events, from the Last Supper and
even to the end of the world, is the basis for his stories. A “neo-bard” of
sorts, Aureole uses ancient symbolism and music to present to the listeners epic
stories of tales, from mythologies, history, folklore, and the like.
