Band Biography :
Plastic Toys come from the remains of a rock band called Karmic Jera. A heavier,
more industrial band that won Kerrang’s year 2000 ‘Win a Record Deal
Competition’, over 1000’s of entries. They signed with Dreamcatcher Records and
released the rock album Zombies, Blood and Go-GO Girls at the end of 2001. The
album was passed over by fans in favour of the bands own, self produced demos,
this is something Plastic Toys have learnt a very important lesson from; Don’t
let people who don’t get what you’re doing fuck with your music! The band also
unhappy with the album decided to focus all their energy on their live show,
something that paid off turning them into a formidable live rock band. Top marks
reviews in Kerrang, Metal Hammer and Rock Sound pay testament to that fact as do
the hundreds of fans that saw them on their 3 uk tours. The scary thing is that
they have just got better and better over time and now have the ability to light
up even the smallest, darkest toilet venue. It goes without saying that they
parted company with Dreamcatcher at the earliest opportunity. Deciding that the
only way to ensure the fans heard the music the way it should be heard Plastic
Toys set about recording and producing all their own music in Jon’s home studio.
The results are what you hear on this website. The only outsider invovled in the
process was Andy Gray (Korn, Tori Amos, Gary Numan) who did the final mix for
Let Me Feel The Love. Long time fans will know that earlier this year Jim, the
bands bassist suffered a hand injury and left PT in need of a replacement. Well,
a worthy character was found in the form of Kitty Brooks, a bassist who’s
experience comes from her time in DNA Doll who played both the SXSW Texas music
festival and the Isle Of Wight Festival. So there you have it, Plastic Toys, a
band who know their own minds and sound and won’t let anything stop them from
doing it their way. After all, it’s when they take control and you get their
undiluted, sleazy industrial rock sound that they sound their best.
