Band Biography :
Shagg is pop/rock with a touch of funky old soul, bringing together the sounds
of classic R&B and modern songwriting. Shagg’s story started humbly with
apartment rehearsals in Brooklyn, NYC, where the band wrote a dozen tunes. Two
of the five songs from their debut recording, the Peach EP, were named finalists
in the 2000 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Then, in 2002, they were selected
to compete for the Coca-Cola New Music Award, the unsigned artist category of
the American Music Awards. The band is currently finishing their first
full-length album, entitled Superfine Shagg.
