Band Biography :
The Garlands still remember Sherry as a young girl in east Tennessee singing and
playing ukelele for family and friends at social gatherings. Soon the ukelele
made way for a guitar which she taught herself to play. She spent many hours
alone writing and singing. Some years later — along with family members — she
began a career in outdoor advertising. Even having a successful business would
not get music out of Sherry’s mind. She continued to pursue her dream, writing
songs and performing in nightclubs four nights a week. Realizing that music was
her first love, Sherry did what she knew she had to do. She sold her share of
the business to her partners, packed her bags and made the move to Nashville.
For years Sherry has been honing her songwriting skills, co-writing with several
renowned Nashville tunesmiths like Fred Koller Angel Eyes (Jeff Healey), Goin’,
Gone (Kathy Mattea) and Don Goodman Angels Among Us (Alabama), Ring On Her
Finger, Time On Her Hands (Lee Greenwood, Reba McEntire) while getting to know
producers such as Doug Grau (Little Texas) and Legendary producer Norro Wilson
(Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Sara Evans and
Shania Twain). Sherry had airplay with a song produced by Norro Wilson Back On
My Feet Again written by Annie Roboff and Bill LaBounty. As fate would have it,
the first song Sherry learned to play on guitar The Most Beautiful Girl In The
World was also co-written by Norro Wilson. Renowned vocal coach Gerald Arthur
(whose clients have included the likes of Randy Travis and Reba McEntire) was so
taken with Sherry’s talent and attitude that he offered to coach her for three
years — declining payment — before declaring her ready for the marketplace.
Although Sherry is rooted in tradition she also has a pop appeal as her
interests in music range from Patsy Cline, K.D. Lang to Celine Dion. Sherry has
the sound, the songwriting ability, and the dedication to make her dream come
true. It’s no wonder all who meet and hear this gifted singer-songwriter agree
that it’s just a matter of time before Sherry Garland’s goal becomes her
reality.
