Band Biography

The Boogiemen began as a side project for Kevin Heckeler and Lewis Benko.  Also contributing drum loops/sampling was Californian friend Robert Rogers.

The band took a break during 2004 and have returned with a renewed sense of purpose and are looking forward to more musical experimentation.

The Rudy Strooglitz page was Lew’s creation, Kevin helped with photo-chopping some of the pictures for mock advertising.  It remains incomplete, but not for long.

Kevin Heckeler: On this production he did just about all the grunt work.  Self-taught producer of such other hit bands as Slightly Dimmed and Dischord, Kevin was really stretching his mental capacity by using absolutely any part of his mind during these recordings.

Lewis Benko: Lewis, also known as Lonesome Lewis, is from a small town in CT.  He began to play the guitar at age 11, and was introduced to the blues by age 15.  Some of his favorite artists include Mississippi John Hurt, Prokofiev, Cecil Taylor, Captain Beefheart, and Buckethead. Oliver:  He’s a cat and meows on “I have thoughts in my mind”.  His favorite people are silly, passionate, and willing to clean his litter pan.
