    Band Biography :
The Puppets 1978-1983 A Melbourne Punk Band. Formed by Bruno Adams( Bass ,
Vocals) and Andrew Brooke aka DEE DEE ( Guitar) who met each other at primary
school. Early influences included Souixsie and the Banshees and the Stooges. The
early line-ups for the band varied somewhat with ‘guest’ drummers being the
norm. Known as a great party band, gigs were often at suburban houses and could
go on for hours playing a combination of original and covered music. RAM
Magazine once asked what was the common denominator for the gigs to end and the
reply was usually broken guitar strings or lack of booze. In 1980, the band
stopped playing live and started experimenting musically with such notables as
Dan Wallace-Crabbe ( Laughing Clowns) Harry Zante ( Crime & City Solution). One
notable addition to the line up at this stage was Simon Smith (Whirlywirld) on
guitar. Due to lack of drummers available, Andrew Brooke moved into the role of
drummer for the band. Chris Russell (Once Upon A Time) also joined the band as
keyboard player. The main line up for the band was: Bruno Adams ( Bass, Vocals)
Simon Smith ( Guitar) Chris Russell ( Keyboard) Andrew Brooke (Drums) Andrew
Brooke left the band after the tragic loss of his girlfriend and disappeared
into suburbia only to resurface in 2005 in a new band ironically called The Long
Lost Loves. Simon Smith left that band in 1983 also. The Puppets new drummer was
Chris Hughes ( Once Upon A Time, Fatal Shore). Bruno Adams took the band off the
road for a complete make over. The new band had become Once Upon a Time and had
some success within the Melbourne Band scene. Like most Melbourne bands, they
moved to Germany in 1986. The band had reasonable success and a number of staff
changes - Bruno Adams and Chris Hughes being the constant throughout the 1990’s
    - See Fatal Shore.
