Band Biography :
Biography of The Stella Blue Band Stella Blue herself originates from the woods
of the Ozark Mountains. She began traveling the U.S. at an early age with hopes
of broadening her horizons and learning how to tattoo. Stella first became
enamored with guitar on the streets of San Deiago, California while hanging out
with the street musicians of Ocean Beach. After leaving California, Stella
purchased her first guitar in Tuscan, Arizona as an 18th birthday present to
herself. Never staying in one place too long, Stella taught herself to play,
sing, and write music. Now after six years of playing guitar and doing/getting
tattoos, Stella has developed a style of writing and performing like no other.
Some of those who have influenced and inspired Stella are as follows (but not
limited to) : Stone Temple Pilots, Al Di Meola, Tesla, Cher, Iron Maiden, Rush,
Joe Cocker, And most definately Drivin’ Rain. Stella Blue is backed by the
undeniable talent and experience of the other 3 members of her band. Heading up
the roster is Leslie Wright on incrediable keyboards, sensational guitar leads,
and strong backing vocals. With seventeen years of experience Leslie has
developed into a professional composer and writer. He began with his first band
“Artis” in 1988. He continued his successes with others such as but not limited
to : Stephanie Avila (1995), The Brooke Burrows Band, Dennis Ray Baine & Burnt,
Deep Rest, and Group Therapy. His influences are widely incorporated and tend to
remain secretive to the public. Leslie brings a talent and touch to The Stella
Blue Band that could not be replaced without sacrificing the quality of what
this band is trying to do. Dave “The Captain” Swords provides an astonishing
sound to the mix with his unique and bold stylings on Bass. Dave also provides
backing vocals helping to fill in the medley. With over twenty years of
experience, Dave has made his mark by playing in bands such as : The Trend- in
Detroit, No Tresspassing- in Detroit, Carbon Copy- in Detroit, Power Play- in
Detroit, Missouri Breaks- in Missouri, And Dennis Ray Baine and Burnt- in
Missouri.With an eclectic style and a wide range of influences, Dave Swords adds
a magic to the songs and grooves of Stella Blue. A few of his many influences
include : Mozart, John McGlaughlin, Al Di Meola, as well as the entire Michigan
Rock Scene. The newest addition to The Stella Blue Band is John Krew. Johnny has
come into the band strong and chocked full of experience. His powerful rock
rythms and chops lead the way in Stella and Leslie’s unique style of music. John
began playing drums at the young age of seven, giving him over 35 years of
experience. He has played with bands such as Macs’s Creek (st. louis, Mo) ,
Ashhill, Dennis Ray Baine & Burnt, Velvet Red, Jo Jo McHenry, and Crash Landing.
Johnny’s influences are said to be Creme, Frank Zappa, Tod Rungrend, Bob Dylan,
and Keith Moon. John Krew is truely what this band need to rocket into the music
