Band Biography :
Formed in early 2004, Three Chords Light was originally set up as a side project
called ‘Matiqua’ for Jammie (Guitar)and Meg (Vocals) from another Newbury based
band - ReadBetweenTheLines to allow them to really branch out and do something
different. With the addition of Luke (Bass) and Sean (Drums), the band took the
shape that it maintains to this day. In the almost 2 years since their inception
the band have evolved from inexperienced but enthusiastic musicians to polished
and professional performers, with the music itself having become more elaborate
without losing any of it’s energy or infectiousness. With consistently positive
crowd reactions, the band’s fanbase is growing all the time and should continue
to do so as the band continue to gig around the country. Three Chords Light’s
music has been described as ‘a fusion of pop-punk complexities, soulful melodies
and intelliegent lyrics, rounded off with a healthy injection of rock’ and
performances have drawn reviews that tell of a band with ‘good interaction and
natural charisma who certainly have a pro sound’. They have drawn comparisons to
a wildly eclectic array of bands and artists such as Gwen Stefani, Skunk
Anansie, Guns ‘N Roses, Portishead and Reuben among many many others. Among the
upcoming possibilities for the band are their forthcoming 6 track EP – ‘No
Special Effects’, more touring, a music video and hopefully further extensive
gigging around the country in a bid to let people know of their existence and to
continue doing what they love best.
